The Inks are formulated from a series of soluble dyes in a superior shellac
solution. These inks can be applied with brush, pen or airbrush and are widely
used by Illustrators, Designers, Calligraphers and Artists. The major
advantages are: Brilliant colours; fast drying and water-resistance; fully
intermixeable; easily diluted (with distilled water); excellent adhesion on
most types of sized surface; the blending which is achieved by overlaying
different colours when the preceding layer is dry.
The range comprises 26 colours including Liquid Indian ink, a water-based
solution of traditional Chinese stick ink, the standard lettering ink used by
Calligraphers (non water resistant).
Winsor & Newton Drawing Inks do not possess the lightfast properties of
pigments. Work which is intended for display in lighted areas should not be
executed with coloured inks. This does not apply to Black, White and metallic
Colours. Care should be taken when using an airbrush to ensure that the ink
does not dry within it.
¤ = Caution Hazardous material, colours should be treated with extra
